ChatGPT Ads Creative Enhancements Go Live: Opt Out by 29 Oct
OpenAI will let its AI rewrite, translate and redirect your ChatGPT Ads by default from the end of October 2026. Here is how to opt out, or test it safely, before 29 October.

OpenAI will let its AI rewrite, translate and redirect your ChatGPT Ads by default from the end of October 2026. Here is how to opt out, or test it safely, before 29 October.

01OpenAI will enable ChatGPT Ads creative enhancements by default for new and existing campaigns at the end of October 2026.
02ChatGPT Ads creative enhancements can rewrite headlines and descriptions, translate ad text, resize images and change the destination URL.
03OpenAI sources give 29, 30 and 31 October 2026 as the start date, so advertisers should opt out or set rules before 29 October.
04Advertisers can opt out in ChatGPT Ads Manager under Manage settings, and campaign-level settings override the account default.
OpenAI will switch on ChatGPT Ads creative enhancements by default at the end of October 2026, letting its AI rewrite your headlines, translate your copy, resize images and swap your landing page without asking first. If you run ChatGPT Ads, you have until roughly 29 October to decide whether to opt out, keep it on, or test it on one campaign.
The setting is one toggle in ChatGPT Ads Manager. The decision behind it is bigger: who controls what your brand says inside a chat.

OpenAI told advertisers on 20 October 2026 that creative enhancements will be enabled automatically for new and existing self-serve campaigns. The AI can generate new headlines and descriptions, translate ad text, resize images and send clicks to a different page on your site, all based on the conversation and the user’s interests.
Search Engine Roundtable published the advertiser email the same day. OpenAI’s help article on creative enhancements says variations can be prepared in advance or created in real time. Enhanced versions can run without you approving each one, and OpenAI confirms there is no preview of every variation.
The safest deadline is 29 October 2026, because OpenAI’s own sources disagree. The advertiser email says enhancements start on Friday, 30 October. The help article now says Thursday, 31 October, but 31 October 2026 is a Saturday. PPC Land saw the help page showing 29 October on 21 October.
When a platform gives three dates for one change, plan around the earliest. Toggling the setting takes under a minute, so there is no reason to wait.
OpenAI has shown 29, 30 and 31 October in different places. Opt out or set campaign-level rules before the earliest date so nothing goes live unreviewed.
OpenAI lists four types of change, and one toggle controls all of them together. You cannot, for example, allow image resizing but block copy rewrites. That bundling is the main reason to think before leaving it on.
| Enhancement | What it does | Main risk for you |
|---|---|---|
| Headlines and descriptions | Writes new or updated text | Claims, offers or tone you never approved |
| Translation | Translates ad text into another language | Wrong terms in regulated or local markets |
| Image resizing | Fits images to the ad format | Cropped logos or product shots |
| Destination URL | Picks a “relevant” page on your site | Traffic to pages with no conversion tracking |
The URL swap deserves the most attention. If ChatGPT sends a click to an old blog post instead of your landing page, your conversion data breaks quietly. Our guide on the best conversion tracking method for PPC campaigns covers how to tag every page that can receive paid traffic.
Opt out at account level if you work in a regulated category, run strict offer or pricing rules, or sell in more than one language. Keep it on for one test campaign only if your site is clean, every page is tracked, and your brand can live with copy you have not read.
This mirrors what we saw with Meta adding product browsing to ads by default on 28 October. Platforms are betting that AI-written variations lift performance. The bet may pay off, but OpenAI’s help page itself warns that changes in results over time do not prove the enhancements caused them.

Watch out: Ads Manager reports at campaign, ad group and ad level. OpenAI has not described any report that separates enhanced creative from your original, so you cannot see which version drove a sale.
You change the setting in ChatGPT Ads Manager under Manage settings, where a single Creative enhancement toggle sits in the account settings. Campaign-level settings override the account default, and any opt-out you already set is kept. That structure lets you block it everywhere and allow it in one place.
Before any test, tighten your search hygiene too. The same discipline you use with negative keywords in PPC applies here: decide in advance what you will not pay for.
Indian advertisers are in scope if they buy ChatGPT Ads, because the change covers new and existing campaigns with no country exemptions listed. PPC Land reports India went live on 29 August 2026, initially through OpenAI’s sales team and partners rather than self-serve.
If an agency or partner manages your account, ask them in writing which setting they will use. The email mentions self-serve campaigns while the help page does not, so partner-run accounts should confirm rather than assume.
Translation is the riskiest piece for India. If you target Hindi or regional-language users, keep enhancements off until you can review translated copy yourself.
Opt out at account level today, then earn your way back in. One test campaign with a matched control tells you more than a platform-wide default ever will. ChatGPT Ads are still young, reporting is thin, and you cannot preview what the AI writes. Until OpenAI shows enhanced versus original results side by side, treat creative enhancements as an experiment, not a setting.
If you want to write better ChatGPT-ready copy yourself instead, our list of ChatGPT prompts for PPC campaigns is a good starting point.
Creative enhancements are an OpenAI feature that uses AI to create ad variations in ChatGPT. It can write new headlines and descriptions, translate text, resize images and point clicks to a different page on your website.
Yes. OpenAI will enable them automatically for new and existing campaigns at the end of October 2026 unless you opt out. Existing account and campaign opt-outs are preserved.
Open ChatGPT Ads Manager, select Manage settings and switch the Creative enhancement toggle off at account level. You can also set it per campaign, and campaign settings take priority over the account default.
No. OpenAI says the experience does not provide a preview of every variation, and enhanced ads can run without you approving each version.
Not based on what OpenAI has shown so far. A single Creative enhancement toggle controls text, translation, image resizing and destination URL changes together.
OpenAI lists no country exemptions, so Indian advertisers running ChatGPT Ads should assume it applies. Partner-managed accounts should confirm the setting with their agency in writing.
